ILWS Colour Combo Challenge 24

Well it's that time again....my turn to host the Colour Combo Challenge over at In Love With Stamping....The challenge colours this time are:-


Elegant Eggplant
Old Olive
Taken With Teal

I really enjoyed using these colours, they just seemed to jell together. Here is my sample card.





The stamp set used is Baroque Motifs, stamped in Old Olive onto Very Vanilla, with the flower stamp stamped in Elegant Eggplant. Sentiment is from the Cheers and Wishes stamped in Elegant Eggplant. The Very Vanilla is layered onto Taken with Teal card then Very Vanilla. The base card is Old Olive card with a layer of Elegant Eggplant on the left. Elegant Eggplant grossgrain ribbon has been tied around the spine of the card to finish and small pearls on top of the flowers to finish it off.

Scallop Circle Flower Tutorial

Well, I have been toying with doing a tutorial on my blog for a while, so I have finally taken the plunge and done it. Hope it is OK and fairly easy to follow.
Today I am going to show you how to make some flowers to decorate your card using the Scallop Circle Punch.

For each flower you will need a scallop circle punched from designer paper or card stock. I used Rose Red Designer Paper. A circle of card stock or DP to co-ordinate with the Scallop Circle you have just punched out using the ½” circle punch and a 5-Petal Flower punched out in a Green card stock for leaves. (I used Old Olive)



Take the Scallop Circle of Designer Paper and snip towards the centre of the shape. This is to create the petals of the flower. Do not go right into the centre as the petals will fall off!!

Next with a sponge ink the edges of the ½” circles with ink to highlight the edges. My circles are in Regal Rose card stock, so I used Rose Red Ink as a contrast.

With the 5-Petal Flower punch green card, snip into the middle of the shape making each snip meet to make leaf shapes.

Then sponge the edges with ink. I used Olive Green card stock and Olive Green Ink.

Assemble the flower by gluing a circle into the middle of each flower and lifting each petal to create a flower. Assemble a card and attach flowers using dimensionals, and arrange leaves around the flowers gluing into place

This card was for my lovely new down line, Alex, who is having an Open House day tomorrow. I would have dearly loved to be there to support her, but unfortunately I have something on and unable to go, so I sent this card to her to wish her loads of luck and to let her know I will be thinking of her.

Colour Challenge 23

Today is my turn to post the Colour Combo Challenge over at In Love With Stamping. The challenge colours are:-

Basic Grey
Ballet Blue
Certainly Celery

These colours where chosen as some of the UK demo's where saying on a thread that they where finding it hard to incorporate Grey card stock into their creations. So I had a light bulb moment and decided grey had to be one of the colours in this weeks challenge. LOL

Here is my card, a very simple design, but I have to say I am very pleased with how it turned out.

The base card is Certainly Celery, with a panel of Basic Grey, stamped with the Canvas background stamp in Basic Grey ink. The butterfly from the Garden Whimsy set is stamped onto Whisper White card in Ballet Blue ink, then layered onto Certainly Celery, Basic Grey then Ballet Blue card. The sentiment is stamped in Basic Grey and from the Thank You Kindly stamp set.

Now I have just looked out of the window and it's snowing here. We have missed most of the snow that has hit the country this past week or so. My son is hoping school will be closed tomorrow! I bet he is going to be disappointed....

You've been framed !

Love that programme.....love how it makes my son laugh & I do love hearing his laughter....But this time it is Pocket Silhouettes that have been framed.

I found this frame with the square mount board in a small framing shop close by. I love the Pocket Silhouettes stamps and immediately thought about stamping each silhouette into each square. I used Chocolate Chip ink to stamp onto Barley Banana and Creamy Caramel and placed them behind the mount board. So Simple yet so effective.

Butterfly & Pearls

Yes I know.....I have been a bad blogger again! But I did manage to create this card. I decided it was time to start using those beautiful pearls from the Pretties Kit. I am terrible, if I really like something, I don't use it....I am sure I am not alone here, now am I. Come on confess how many of you stoke your stash then put it away for that special project, that just never happens!!

This card is made using Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue and Night of Navy card stock. The panel is the 'It's Beautiful' Jumbo Wheel, with Night of Navy ink. Pearls from the Pretties kit have been placed in the centre of some of the flowers. The little butterfly is Cuttlebug cut and emboss butterflies. I then sponged some Night of Navy ink onto the embossing to highlight the pattern. Again pearls from the Pretties kit have been used on the body of the butterfly. Sentiment is in Night of Navy from the Hostess Level 1 stamp set 'Best Yet'.

I have made another card today, but that is for the Colour Combo challenge over at In Love With Stamping on Thursday, so I can't show you that just yet. Hoping to get more stamping done tomorrow...
